Today businesses’ landscapes are fast, competitive, global and dynamic and to keep a pace with this, employees are in a constant stress to perform well, achieve targets and stay ahead in the game. Unfortunately this also has an adverse impact on Employee Wellness.

As per a report by Global Wellness Institute, the cost of unwell workers worldwide represents 10-15% of global economic output. It’s not surprising that more and more employers have started spending on employee wellness as a means to lower healthcare costs, improve morale and recruitment, raise productivity, and stay competitive in the market.

Google is seemingly a pioneer in creating a wacky workplace culture for their employees. All of us have heard the stories and read the reports on the amazing objects that Google has in its offices for its employees to make use of, from 24 hour gourmet food to virtual golf screens and from Foosball tables to the famed nap pods. 

How games at workplace help?

Playing games can help with creative thinking and problem solving. There are certainly several benefits of integrating games at the workplace. It gives employees an opportunity to socialize and build a sense of collaboration. One study found that the moments of conversation between co-workers increases performance by 20%.

It de-stresses the employees and makes them more productive. Quick and short breaks actually help them to return back with more energy and new perspective & ideas at their desk. In fact, it gives them an additional platform to discuss challenges and possible solutions.

Most of us must have played a game of Foosball with friends at one point or the other in our lives. We would never, however, think about a Foosball table at a workplace because we think of it as a game only. But today Foosball tables are slowly gaining momentum in being recognized as Stress relievers at workplaces. Working long hours at a continuous stretch might cause stress and fatigue.

A study reported that People taking a silent break from work felt less engaged and experienced worry as a result, whereas those who participated in the guided relaxation activity saw reductions in negative affect and distress.

To sum it up, Foosball table in your office do not necessarily have to be distractive. They can very well be utilized as effective stress relievers. This is something which will always be welcomed and appreciated in a work environment.
